New construction home or existing home? When choosing where to call home, consider these little-known advantages of new homes.
Whether you’re in the market for a home now or considering a purchase in the coming months and starting your initial research now, you’ve got two choices when it comes to types of homes on the market: new construction or resale.
There are many obvious reasons why buyers are drawn to new construction homes: they are more energy-efficient, their floorplans tend to be much more open and oriented to the needs of modern families, they have warranties, and you can almost always choose your appliances, flooring, paint colors and other finishes and selections to customize your home to be uniquely yours.
But there are more benefits to new construction homes that you may not be aware of nor are they shown in a sales brochure or defined on a web site:
A community that you build
As families and individuals move into a brand new community at the same (relative) time, last friendships and a sense of neighborhood are instantly formed. No one is seen as the “new people,” and even when a community has been established for a number of months, there’s still a sense of newness that all members share.
Some home builders host or at least encourage block parties to help owners meet and connect and popular amenities like walking paths, community centers, parks and other common attractions offer additional opportunities for interaction.
